Are you interested in amateur radio and are looking for training? The North Central Alberta Amateur Radio Club is looking to put on a course to prepare you for the Basic certification exam. The course would include study materials, as well as an exam administered by an Industry Canada certified examiner.
It is with sadness that I write to inform you that Dave Cope has passed away today after a battle with cancer. Dave had been in the General Hospital in Edmonton over the past while, but he still managed to make it on the radio occasionally.
Some of you may not know Dave, but he was a staple at the Gibbons rest stop on the Tour de l’Alberta the years that I helped out with the Tour. A couple of years ago the local newspaper featured him and his station in an article about ham radio, and our contribution to the event as ham radio operators.

This is a reminder of the NCAARC Annual General Meeting. All club members are strongly encouraged to attend and elect your new club executive and board. This is also a chance to hear the highlights of 2015.
Club members and friends helped out with communications support for both of the Running Room 2016 Hypo half marathons. This event is held along the scenic Ada Boulevard/Highlands area of Edmonton overlooking the river valley. We were able to put our club trailer to use as a command post and providing Net Control a warm spacious operating station. We ran the generator and were fully self contained (well except for the coffee!). Everything performed well.

The next event will be the St. Patrick’s day run. Contact ve6py@ncaarc.ca if you are interested in volunteering.
Thank you again volunteers! We couldn’t do it without you!
