Mission
Trained volunteer amateur radio operators provide communication services in times of disaster and serious civil emergencies as well as community events, when requested.
Why we do what we do
In times of disaster or serious civil emergencies, amateur radio operators often provide a vital and stable communications service. Conventional communications systems and networks can be overtaxed during serious emergency situations and organizations such as ours are often called upon by emergency management officials to support critical communication requirements.
Towards this aim it is our agenda to erect the necessary towers, install repeater hubs and provide volunteer operators fully trained and outfitted with the required emergency equipment.
Our plan is to provide emergency communication in times of disaster to the greater Edmonton area beginning with St. Albert and proceeding northward. We will cover the Province north of Edmonton in three stages in cooperation with all the other amateur radio organizations established to the 60th parallel. Assistance will be provided to those communities which request the assistance of the North Central Alberta Amateur Radio Club in times of disaster or any community activities devoted to the betterment of community living.
