Want to learn about DSTAR?
Hello NCAARC members. On Saturday – October 21, 2023 – 09:00 AM we have Chris Bone VA6CWB coming to present on D Star.
Awhile back, I sent an email out to members asking about interest in having Chris come to do this presentation and a number of you responded to say you would be interested.
All members – and any other interested hams – are invited to attend. We will meet at St Albert Fire Hall #3, 100 Giroux Rd., St. Albert, AB. As the presentation is comprehensive, Chris asked if we could plan for up to four hours. That is why we begin at 9:00 am and will run a bit later than we usually do.
If you have a D Star radio, bring it along.
If you have received this email and do not wish to receive this notice again, send a reply email to me requesting your email address to be removed.
There will not be a regular meeting until Saturday November 18, 2023 at 09:30 AM.
Hoping for a good turn-out.

Volunteers Needed!
As you may know a bulk of our funding comes from working a casino ever 2-3 years. Without this funding we would not be able to have the funds to work on the projects that we do and to support ongoing initiatives. If you have some time to volunteer and help out the club, please seem the message below from our casino chair, Paul.
We still need more volunteers for the October 2 and 3, 2023 Casino for the North Central Alberta Amateur Radio Club (NCAARC).
If you can volunteer, please sign up. And volunteer a friend or associate or family member who might like to join the fun.
Casino volunteer duties are easy, meals and snacks are provided, and the funds raised help support NCAARC’s activities. And you can visit with club members as well.
Please signup using the following link volunteersignup.org/8BQF3. If you are unable to use the link to sign up please send an email to board@ncaarc.ca and it will be passed to Paul.
Thank you for supporting your club!
Trailer Work Bee
This morning we had a bit of a work bee on the trailer to complete a long outstanding project – cutting and hanging the whiteboards! Dave (VE6SKI), Ivan (VE6IVN), Gerry (VE6GBH), and myself (VA6AWS) arrived at the trailer this morning and set right to work.

We had a great day (and I even got a sunburn out there!) working on getting this overdue project completed. Hopefully these will add increased functionality when the trailer is out at events. They are also magnetic so they will be great for hanging up contact lists and maps etc.
We still have some work to complete on the trailer, as well as it needs a very good cleaning before we send it off to the International Children’s Festival for them to use as their command post. If you are interested in helping out with the project, or would like to know some more about the trailer please let me know (va6aws@ncaarc.ca) and we can arrange something.
Thank you again to our work crew today!
