  • Transplant Trot Photos

On May 21 our club provided communications assistance for the 2016 Transplant Trot.  This run takes place in the Edmonton river valley starting in Laurier Park following the trails over to Hawrelak Park and beyond.  There were 120 participants registered in the events, and even though the weather wasn’t the best there were about 100 people that turned out to run.

Once again Mike (VE6XZM) had his camera handy.  (One of these days I need to figure out how he manages to hold down the post of Net Control, and still find time to take some pictures.)

  • Action Dash Photos

On May 14 our club supported the Community Action Dash by providing communications along the route in downtown Edmonton.  Mike (VE6XZM) had his camera handy and captured these photos from his station.  Thanks for sharing Mike!

Patrick managed to catch a video of the Dragon Dance as well.

  • Public Safety Open House

Join us along with St Albert Fire services, RCMP, Municipal Enforcement, and other community partners at this fun and free event.

We will have our trailer onsite demonstrating how amateur radio works.  We are in need of volunteers to run the demos as well as be available to answer any questions from the members of the public.  If you are able to volunteer please contact a board member, preferably via email at board@ncaarca.ca with some details on what you would be willing to volunteer for.

  • Public Service Opportunities

There are two events that we have been asked to assist with in the month of May.

    • Community Action Dash – May 14, 2016 09300 hrs to about 1300 hrs.  This event is in the northern part of downtown Edmonton.  There is a BBQ with hotdogs etc at the end of the event.
    • Transplant Trot – May 21, 2016 from about 0900 to 1300 hrs.  This event is down in the Edmonton river valley starting around the zoo and working its way towards Hawrelak Park.  Most participants in this event are either recipients of organ transplants or have close family members that are recipients.  There is usually a pizza party at the end of this event.

Please contact Patrick, our public service coordinator at public-service@ncaarc.ca if you are interested in volunteering.  If you haven’t volunteered at an event before these are great events to come out and see how it all works.  Don’t worry, you won’t be left on your own, we will pair you up with someone who has experience.
